"This is why it doesn't work to just install a phone box anywhere in the world and call it a Wind Phone. There are certain conditions that are necessary for it to work, and these have to be created."

-Itaru Sasaki

"Every Wind Phone begins with an idea, a hope, and a few words shared from the heart."

Tools to Support Your Wind Phone Journey

To help bring that vision to life, this page gathers printable resources you can use as you plan, create, and share your Wind Phone. This page brings together printable resources to help bring that vision to life. You’ll find template letters, brochures, printable signs, and other materials designed to make the process a little easier. Whether you are reaching out for permission, sharing the meaning of a Wind Phone with others, or adding thoughtful details to your space, these resources are here to guide and support you.

Wind Phone Brochures

Wind Phones are simple in form, yet profound in meaning. They offer a quiet place where people can speak words that still live in their hearts—words meant for someone they love and miss. To help others bring these spaces of remembrance and healing to their communities, I created a collection of brochures that share the spirit and purpose behind Wind Phones.

These materials include a one-page introduction and a bi-fold brochure that gently explain what Wind Phones are and why they matter. They are designed to help people understand how a simple phone placed in a peaceful setting can become a place of comfort, reflection, and connection. One brochure, “Proposal to Install a Wind Phone,” was created to help individuals approach parks, gardens, schools, or community organizations about hosting a Wind Phone. It shares the story and meaning behind these installations, helping others see how a small, quiet space can offer solace to those carrying grief, love, and remembrance.

Another brochure, “The Wind Listens: How Wind Phones Help Children Heal,” speaks to the needs of children who are grieving. For many children, feelings of loss can be difficult to express. A Wind Phone offers them a gentle way to speak, remember, and feel close to someone they miss—without pressure, expectation, or judgment. In these moments, the act of speaking into the phone can become a small but meaningful step in their healing.

These brochures were created with love to support anyone who feels called to create a Wind Phone. By sharing the story and purpose behind these spaces, they help communities understand that sometimes the most powerful acts of healing begin with something very simple: a quiet place, an open heart, and the feeling that, somehow, the wind is listening.

Template Request Letters

To make it easier for people to bring Wind Phones to their communities, I created a set of template request letters that can be used when asking permission to place a Wind Phone in a park, garden, school, or other meaningful location.

These letters gently explain the purpose and spirit of a Wind Phone—how a simple phone in a quiet place can become a source of comfort for those who are grieving or wishing to feel close to someone they miss.

The templates provide a clear starting point while still allowing creators to personalize their message. By helping people share the meaning behind a Wind Phone with care and clarity, these letters can make it easier to open doors and invite communities to support these special spaces of remembrance and healing.

Inspiration From our Wind Phone Creators

One of the most meaningful sources of inspiration comes from the many people who have already created Wind Phones in their communities. Their stories, creativity, and experiences offer valuable insight for anyone considering starting a Wind Phone project.

On the My Wind Phone Blog, I regularly feature a “Featured Wind Phone,” highlighting unique installations and the thoughtful individuals who brought them to life. These stories show the many ways a Wind Phone can be designed, placed, and embraced by a community.

Wind Phone creators and stewards also share their personal experiences in the My Wind Phone Creator Series, offering reflections, lessons learned, and encouragement for others who feel called to create a Wind Phone of their own.

Together, these stories provide inspiration, ideas, and reassurance that a simple act of creating a quiet place for remembrance can have a powerful impact.

Wind Phone Signs and QR Code to Print

There is no single way to create a sign for your Wind Phone—the possibilities are endless. Whether you choose a simple handwritten note or a thoughtfully designed display, your sign can reflect your own vision and connection to the purpose of the Wind Phone. Clear, welcoming signage that explains the meaning of the Wind Phone and gently guides visitors in their experience is especially helpful. You may also find inspiration in the Wind Phone Sign Gallery.

I also provide several Wind Phone sign options that you are welcome to use. If you quote or reproduce someone else’s words, please credit the writer by including their name on your sign.

For your convenience, you can download the My Wind Phone QR Code from this site. It allows visitors to learn about the history of the Wind Phone, rediscover your Wind Phone later on the map, and explore others around the world. Your Wind Phone may even inspire someone else to create one of their own.
