Weekly, I shine a light on the story of a beautifully created and placed Wind Phone. Sharing our stories makes a difference because it's in doing so that we connect and heal. To not cloud the Wind Phone creator's message, the format for Featured Phones is to share their answers to the interview questions verbatim.

This week's Featured Phone is located in Hyde Park, Vermont; Amy Olsen, Library Director and her community created this beautiful phone at the Lanpher Memorial Library. Thank you, Amy, for sharing the story of your phone with us.

Where is your Wind Phone located?

The library address is 141 Main St. (Hyde Park, Vermont). The Wind Phone is behind the library; Church St. parking is closest to the wind phone.

Why did you choose this location?

The Wind Phone is behind the library, offering some privacy, but along the walkway and near the roadside/parking for better accessibility.

What year and month did you place your Wind Phone at this location?

October 2022

Is your Wind Phone dedicated or in memory of someone special?

Our Wind Phone is not dedicated in memory of someone special, but in a sense, dedicated to all those who find it and need it. As a small, rural, public library, the staff is often honored and trusted with our community members sharing their life stories, struggles, diagnoses, joys, challenges. We often find ourselves as listeners, giving comfort and support to folks. We felt that a public library was a natural place for a Wind Phone where folks can "use this brave space to have an intentional and planned connection... We invite you to send your words into the wind."
